The Quest Home
All across the west we traveled wayward for
To find the weight of dreams in gold
Heaven sent us here to meet the hallowed shore
To claim the wealth that we had sold
The Weight of Dreams
If West be out, and East be in…
Where are you to begin?
West may appear best to one seeking rest, and yet…
It is the East where the courageous feast on the beast.
Who is the author of this, a story unlike any other?
In truth, no author writes for another.
He himself, is the audience of the art that is his own Self.
Know that you are the only weapon needed.
That you are the sword. A sharpened awareness is all that is required to slay or tame any and all dragon you shall surely encounter along the path. The treasure you seek is abundant and within the belly of each of these primordial beasts.
That you are the tonic that is the only antidote to the self-poisoning that afflicts. Surrender, and imbibe your Self until drunken with a knowledge unlike any other. That you are the heroic wisdom you seek.
You’ve poisoned me baby
But I know you’ve got the cure in you
Oh won’t you take me home
And give me the antidote
Antidote
The journey may be long and sickening, and yet…it is all yours. The surprising turns and twists are wrote in your own hand and sung by your tongue.
Indeed, you are but one epic guitar solo away from becoming the hero you have sought from the beginning. Listen, and learn to play the chords; find the melody that is your own soul. That you are the music heard as the end credits roll as you stroll…home, carried by the tune that has motivated every thought and action on this quest to end all others.
The quest to end all quests, is your very own.
Seek no other, for in truth no other seeks you.
We are each alone on this walkabout.
And in that truth, we are all together united.
Over the land or the sea
Carry me home, Carry me home
Can you feel the light intertwining
Can you feel it
Pick up all the pieces
And carry them home
Carry Me Home
Entry into the dragon is the regressive direction, and the journey to the East with its attendant events symbolizes the effort to adapt to the conditions of the psychic inner world. The complete swallowing up and disappearance of the hero in the belly of the dragon represents the complete withdrawal of interest from the outer world. The overcoming of the monster from within is the achievement of adaptation to the conditions of the inner world, and the emergence of the hero from the monster’s belly with the help of a bird, which happens at the moment of sunrise, symbolizes the recommencement of progression.
